Improving your developers’ platform experience by applying Google frameworks and methods

Investing in a premium developer experience (DevEx) isn't a luxury – it's a strategic imperative to increase efficiency. In this talk, we’ll explore some frameworks that support continuous improvement.

Platform engineers need to apply proven frameworks and methods to supercharge their DevEx by taking a baseline assessment of their current metrics and charting progress. Continuous improvement is a vital component of your platform engineering journey. In this talk, we’ll cover the following:

  • HEART: Ever heard of Google’s HEART framework? This measures user behaviors and attitudes based on their experience with your platform and provides insights into what’s happening behind the numbers. I’ll speak more about what it is and offer some practical tips on how it can be applied directly to measure DevEx from your Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
  • DORA: What is DORA, what are the four key software delivery metrics, and how can they help me? Hint: Tracks build system speeds and error rates, driving initiatives to eliminate deployment bottlenecks.
