Building Internal Developer Platforms with Kubernetes operators

In this presentation, we’ll dive deep into the world of Kubernetes operators and how they can be leveraged to empower platform engineering teams and extend Kubernetes as the platform of platforms.

This talk will start by introducing the concept of Kubernetes operators, their architecture, and how their development becomes easier by leveraging the operator framework. We’ll then explore the advantages of using Kubernetes operators to manage complex applications and how they can streamline their deployment, scaling, and management. We’ll also provide real-world examples of operators successfully deployed by platform engineering teams when building an Internal Developer Platform. We’ll then demonstrate how an IDP architecture leveraging operators would look, how it integrates with other CNCF tools like Tekton, ArgoCD, Istio, and more, and how to simplify Infrastructure as Code with this approach.
